Hygienists
Gum disease (Periodontal disease) affects the majority of adults during their lifetime and is the most common cause of tooth loss.
Because gum disease develops slowly and insidiously and is painless until it has been established for many years, most people are not aware that they have a problem until it is too late.
Gum disease is caused by the build up of a bacterial film (plaque) in areas of the mouth that are not routinely cleaned, usually in between the teeth where the toothbrush won’t reach.
The dentists at Distinctive Dentistry check your gum health at every examination using an internationally recognised monitoring score.
Curing or controlling gum disease requires both professional attention and effective home care.
Our Hygienists are highly skilled, at professional plaque and scale removal, communicating and motivating with the regard to home care needed for a successful outcome.
For those whose gum disease has become more advanced our hygienists are all skilled in more sophisticated treatments to help you keep your “teeth for life”
We have three hygienists all working in consultation with the dentists to provide a first class oral hygiene service. Their aim is to provide you with the skills you need to keep healthy gums for life.
They are committed to professional development and endeavour to keep up to date with all current treatments and progress within their profession. To ensure your comfort during all aspects of your treatment they are also qualified to give local anaesthesia.
