At Distinctive Dentistry we have a committed, experienced team to help care for your gums.
Our Dentists, Hygienist, Therapist, Oral Health Educator and Hygiene Nurses work closely with you to help prevent and treat gum disease.
Mild gum disease (Gingivitis), if left untreated may lead to periodontitis which is a far more advanced stage of gum disease. This leads to tooth mobility and tooth loss. Scientific research is associating periodontitis with other diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and stroke. We believe that controlling gum disease is thus of vital importance not only for your smile but for your general well being. We will, of course, thoroughly clean and polish your teeth but also offer help and advice on all aspects of prevention, tailored to your own individual needs.
We stock a full range of oral health products at the practice for your convenience.
To treat advanced gum disease our hygienists are fully trained in the use of anti-microbials such as Dentomycin and Periochip.
They are also fully trained in Britesmile whitening.

December 2011 - One of our most important promises to our patients is that our practice should always be a clean, safe environment in which to receive care.
With this in mind we have updated our facilities this month to include a new decontamination room (the place where all our instruments are cleaned and sterilised.) We have worked closely with the experienced Paterson Health Group to ensure that our new facilities will help us continue to achieve high standards of care for years to come.
