Often very little work is needed to the tooth itself and veneers last for many years.

These new all ceramic crowns are as strong as metal based crowns and are much more natural looking. They do not leave a black line at the gum margin as do many metal-based crowns.

Tooth whitening -Tooth Whitening is a simple and effective method of lightening the colour of natural teeth. It is suitable for almost everyone.
At Distinctive Dentistry we are pleased to offer two options:
- Are you in a hurry? In that case we recommend Britesmile. This method will give your teeth an instant lift using light activated whitening gels applied for three or four 20 minute sessions during a single practice visit. To help you maintain or even enhance your new look we will offer you custom fitted trays and 21 nights supply of ‘Nitewhite’ gel. We will give you full instructions on how to use them. Britesmile and Nitewhite both use ACP which helps minimize sensitivity during whitening and helps strengthen tooth enamel.
- Tray Whitening
(a) if you have more time or want to get your teeth really white, we will recommend that you use longer term Tray Whitening overnight for 14 nights. By this time, most people will have already achieved fantastic results. At this stage a practice visit is arranged for you where we will give your whitening a further boost using Daywhite gel. You can the continue with a Nitewhite gel at home for as long as you want to go even whiter! Once you are happy with your new smile, Nitewhite can be used monthly to maintain your result. This package includes enough gel for 6 weeks continuous use! For most people this is enough to produce a super white smile and also to maintain the result for 12 months.
(b) This option is the budget alternative to option (a) for those not needing such a dramatic result. It includes the same ‘Nitewhite’ package without the ‘Daywhite’ boost. Additional Nitewhite gel can be purchased at a special rate for you to use to maintain your whitening results indefinitely.
By replacing the root of the missing tooth with a titanium implant, it is then possible to attach a crown or bridge to this. Implants feel and function like a natural tooth and are the permanent answer to tooth loss.

Ideal for those with busy schedules who want a strong, beautiful restoration.
Your tooth is prepared in the usual way but instead of impressions your tooth is scanned with a camera that takes detailed images of the tooth. Three- dimensional imaging software is then used to create a virtual tooth and design a restoration to fit it perfectly.( a process for which we have undertaken extensive training).
A precise milling machine is then used to create your restoration out of a carefully selected block of porcelain.
The final restoration is tried in, glazed and then cemented to your tooth.
Finished restorations are both strong and look and feel great too. It can all be done in under 2 hours!

December 2011 - One of our most important promises to our patients is that our practice should always be a clean, safe environment in which to receive care.
With this in mind we have updated our facilities this month to include a new decontamination room (the place where all our instruments are cleaned and sterilised.) We have worked closely with the experienced Paterson Health Group to ensure that our new facilities will help us continue to achieve high standards of care for years to come.
